ACM built the Corra Compressor in 1963 as expansion of the Berkeley Pit approached the High Ore mine, necessitating abandonment of the Butte Hoist Plant, built in the early 1910s. ACM also built a new air compressor at the Kelley mine to serve its needs. The Corra Compressor produced air to serve mines west and north of the core-area mines that the Butte Hoist Plant had been serving since the 1910s. The compressor plant is on the left, and the cooling tower serving the compressors is on the right. | Source: Photo by Fred Quivik, July 2024.Download Original File
