Butte Hoist Plant

The long building at the center of the photo housed eight air compressors, each driven by a synchronous electric motor. On the west side of the Butte Hoist Plant stood a bank of tanks, called receivers, used to store the compressed air made at the plant. The headframe in the background stands over the Mountain View shaft. | Source: Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives, Smithers Collection, photo no. 40.026.04.
