Priority Soils Map

The Butte Hill cleanup area comprises more than six square miles, and there are more than 200 individual cleanup sites, ranging in size from less than an acre to more than 100 acres. The work started in the 1990s and will require perpetual maintenance and upgrades to ensure the capped sites are performing as designed and built. After 30 years, the capping technology has performed quite well: Along with the stormwater management technologies installed, there have been 90% reductions in the amount of heavy metals reaching Silver Bow Creek. | Source: Courtesy of the Butte-Silver Bow Department of Reclamation and Environmental Services
