Hennessy Annex

Whereas the Hennessy Department Store rented its space in the Hennessy Building, D.J. Hennessy built and owned the Hennessy Annex, east of the Hennessy Building on Granite. Designed by W.A. O’Brien, it had commercial space on the ground floor and storage and residential rooms for rent on the upper levels. The residential rooms were rented by a business, the Hennessy Annex, of which Bridget Artery was the proprietor. William Scallon, who was president of ACM for three years at the beginning of the twentieth century, stayed in Butte as an attorney for ACM after he resigned the presidency. He lived in the Hennessy Annex for two years before moving to New York City in 1910. | Source: Fred Quivik, July 2025
